Cheerful notes of favorite holiday jingles waft across the gentle wind of crisp, wintery air. Families bundled fat with sweaters and coats gather around the city square – in the middle, a darkened tree. Suddenly, thousands of lights shine bright against the contrast of the evening sky, highlighting the tree, elegantly adorned with bulbs, which brings the holiday season into full swing.

If you have yet to experience the annual lighting of the tree in Raleigh, North Carolina, this Thursday is your opportunity.

Thursday, December 12th, Governor and First Lady McCrory will host the State Capitol tree lighting. This downtown event includes the first day of the annual Holiday Open House at the Executive Mansion.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the Raleigh Concert Band and Garner Magnet High Die Meister playing festive music until the Governor arrives at 6:15 p.m. to light the tree, which can be seen from Fayetteville Street on the south end of the Capital square. Following the annual lighting of the tree, tours of the Capitol start at 6:30 p.m. and holiday music will continue to cheer visitors throughout the evening.

Yellow Dog Bread Company, a new business startup on Person Street, will be selling coffee and pastries during the event; the Junior Woman’s club will be giving away cookies and hot chocolate; Mascots will be in attendance; and Santa Claus intends to make an appearance.

The N.C. Museum of History and N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences will keep their doors open late to invite guests to enjoy the many exhibits and displays they host.

Raleigh’s Annual Lighting of the Tree reminds us at AutoPark Honda that families all around will soon seek their own trees. One problem so many people face is the difficulty of transporting their chosen holiday spruce.

The Honda Odyssey is the perfect vehicle to safely transport your tree.

The winter weather can make travel difficult, especially with a spruce strapped to the roof. Snow and ice obstruct your view and pose a dangerous risk for an accident. Luckily for you, Honda prides itself on the litany of safety features provided on various models. We also like to brag about our creature comforts to help make the ride more enjoyable!

We offer a back-up camera, vehicle stability assist, tire pressure monitor, and rear window defroster so you can see where you’re going and know that vehicle is still safely operating

Some other options offered the Odyssey can offer are heated outside mirrors, heated driver’s seat, heated passenger’s seat, and an outside temperature gauge. These features will keep you toasty as you watch the temperature drop from the comfort of the inside of your Honda.

Of course, we cannot forget the amazing safety package that can include a multi-function steering wheel, side-impact door beams, dual air bags, 3-point seatbelts, and anti-lock braking system.

So what’s keeping you back? Come down to AutoPark Honda and check out any one of our great models!

As always, we at Leith Cars encourage you to…
